On a Thursday, we decided to take a trip the next day for our three day weekend over Labor Day. We booked our hotels and tickets then off we went after work on Friday. We chose Saint Louis, Missouri for our family weekend getaway.

We arrived to the Holiday Inn Six Flags around 9:30pm Friday night after a long drive in the rain. The hotel has some history to it and would have been fun to play and hang out for the day in the hotel. On Saturday we woke up to more rain but by noon had tapered off. Six Flags on a damp day is a good idea. We shuttled over during some light rain soon after they opened and did not have to wait in line for the rides all day. It wasn't hot so once the rain stopped we tossed our ponchos and had a great time. We loved the rides and had a moment or two of wishing we were at Disney.

At Six Flags, I tried getting over my fear of heights.

This was the boys on the Ferris Wheel, calm and but excited to be on a Ferris Wheel.

This was me, trying not to cry or open my eyes.

On Saturday evening we moved to the Hyatt downtown across the street from the Arch where we stayed two nights. Sunday we headed over to the Botanical Gardens and enjoyed several hours of wondering around with the added benefit of their Japanese Festival. Dylan was able to participate in a demonstration.

In the afternoon we walked over to the Arch and toured the museum. This was the only time the holiday weekend interfered with our plans. The lines for going up the arch were too long for Randy to take the boys up.

In the evening we drove to Dave and Busters where the kids were let loose in the game room.

We were exhausted when he hit the bed that night.

On Monday, still too tired to go to the Zoo we went to The City Museum. The City Museum was one of the neatest places I have ever been. If we didn't need to drive home we would have stayed there all day. As we left town we stopped by The Galleria to eat at The Cheesecake Factory and walk around the mall.

On the way home we were trying to think of a time we could go back - we had that much fun!

Our plan is to do more weekend getaways whenever we can fit them in.

A couple days later we were looking at our photos from the trip and laughed because we have tons of pictures with Dane standing with a statue, Dane standing in front of the arch, Dane standing near a tree, etc. Dylan didn't care if he was in any photo. I said when I scrapbook the trip I would title it, Dane's Trip to Saint Louis.
