Dane's class went on their KAMPUS event at Lake Atalanta in Rogers recently which is the beginning of about a half dozen field trips between now and the end of the school year. Fourth grade is so much fun!
The students learned about electricity and got to see a couple demonstrations.
We went on a quick hike before taking a class picture.
We then went to race boats the kids made in class earlier in the week.
Dane was so surprised that his boat won a 3rd place ribbon he wanted to give it back. He didn't think he deserved it and was so distraught over having an award he didn't think he deserved.
Later when the top six place winners from each class were to race for medals Dane's boat was no where to be found. I felt so bad for him. We looked everywhere a dozen times looking for it. Dane said he was sabotaged and tried to think through who did it. He was so pitiful when he couldn't race for a medal and decided a third place ribbon just wasn't enough for his awesome boat.
We went on a second hike but this time it lasted an hour. We walked around the lake. I was surprised to hear a few boys complaining about the walk. Dane wasn't thrilled with the idea of walking for a long time but the turtles, ducks and other exciting finds kept him from complaining.
We saw lots of turtles.
We saw a few ducks and geese.
Dane's friend said Dane was his only friend that was into nature. Dane wanted pictures of everything.
Lastly, the kids got to milk a plastic cow.
It was a fun and exhausting day!
