If this ground could talk...

...it would have a lot to say.

My parents have lived here for nearly 17 years which is longer than they lived in my childhood home.

They may not have brought their babies home from the hospital in this home...

...but they have done a lot of living on this property.

In the last seventeen years while living in this home... one of their daughters graduated high school, two daughters graduated college, one daughter graduated with a masters, two daughters moved back home temporarily, all four of their daughters were married (one by unconventional means), one daughter diagnosed and treated for cancer, one daughter suffered a loss of a child, one daughter divorced, five grandchildren play on this ground, helped raise their first grandson for nine months of his first year and seven months of their second grandson's first year, helping to raise their newest granddaughter currently, retirement, lots of parties on this property, too many animals to count, too many meals prepared to recall, too many memories to recount.  So many experiences that call this property home.  So many experiences I don't even know about.

All seasons may not be full of beautiful, colorful fireworks...

...there may be a dud, a firework firing in the wrong direction, or a painful spark falling on skin every now and then.

It's all the seasons combined that tell our story and just like a fireworks show, you try to only think of those explosions that fired just as you hoped.  If there were no duds or misfires, you'd never know to be grateful for the perfectly executed ones.

  1. Great post! And I would add: Opened thousands of Christmas presents and taken thousands of pictures.
And I wished we would have tracked how many times Mom has changed the wallpaper in the dining room...lol
